More sewing!

Today we have been working on our Roman bulla again. Some of us have finished and were able to put a 'lucky charm' inside. Ask me about these at home.

Learning at home

Look at some of our amazing learning at home!
More photos coming soon.

Roman bulla

Did you know that all children in Roman times were given a bulla? This is a special pouch to keep a lucky charm in, which would keep them safe from sickness and wicked spirits. The girls gave theirs to their husbands when they married and the boys stopped wearing theirs when they became a man and started wearing a toga.

We have been making our own today, showing concentration, perseverance and brilliant sewing skills.

Chariots, shields and mosaics.

Oak class Romans have been finding out how much determination and resilience is needed when making chariots - especially decorating them with string scrolls and swirls. They have also learned how much patience and perseverance you need to create a mosaic. Don't forget to ask them about it!

Chariots, shields, pots and lamps.

We have had a go at making coil pots and oil lamps out of clay this afternoon. We have also made milk bottle chariots and shields. We practised using saws and craft knifes, safely.
